Kechun Li

As a passionate and skilled designer and photographer, Kechun works across a wide range of media including photography, installation, workshop, video, digital design and graphic design. Kechun completed her BA degree at the University of Southern California  and MFA Graphic Design at Otis College of Art and Design. Born and raised in Shenzhen, China and now living in Los Angeles for five years, being able to exchange and work with international artists and designers,  she has broader views and unique perspective in various fields, especially graphic design. As an artist and designer, she draws from her living both in China and Los Angeles as the driving forces in her work. She combines a free-spirited with a polished, fun, and modernity to produce work that is relevant to the world today.

Kechun’s current practice is focusing on urbanism, city planning and social engagement across media in art, publications, workshops and community services, etc.. She believes that urban diversity creates the richness of civil life. We as citizens are responsible of recognizing our roles and collective power in facilitating better human development in cities. Her work will be in the form of  “hunting and gathering” -- collecting and reimagining the existing values of what we have now, instead of proposing brand-new urban landscapes. She urges that we should repurpose and rethink the existing infrastructures and concepts, and apply these values to build a better human-centered enviroment together.
